Lina Olivera Ulrich: IB student, National German Honor Society president, Elysium Magazine layout staff worker, and Baitline Newspaper editor. Ulrich has been an active student within her four years at the Reef. Now, she must go from a big fish in a small pond to a little fish in a big ocean. After graduation, she’s heading to Ludwig-Maximillian University in Munich, Germany, to study International Relations and Communications. She hopes to work with the United Nations and non-profit organizations to help combat poverty. When asked how she felt about her experience at the Reef, she claims she has no regrets except that she wished she would have enjoyed the past four years a bit more than what she already has. Her message to incoming freshmen encourages them not to let their academics take over their lives. “Wherever you end up is exactly where you are supposed to be,” she says. Dr. Valdes, Ulrich’s german teacher, impacted her life at the Reef the most. She appreciates that whenever she struggled, Dr. Valdes was always there to help and uplift her. She is grateful that she had constant support from her teacher.
