Isabel Yip, an IB senior, is very involved in extracurricular activities, being the Baitline co-editor in chief, the Quill and Scroll president, the NHS event coordinator, the Special Melodies co-president, and a company dancer at Jill Mallory Studio of Dance. Through her participation in these activities, she has created fond memories and met some of the most impactful people in her life. Through Quill and Scroll, she formed a memorable experience by teaching lessons on different types of writing to middle schoolers in Richmond Heights Middle School and hearing their entertaining stories. The club Special Melodies has also led to her most notable memories like meeting friends (such as Alex and Justin), playing Just Dance, and doing concerts and show and tell on Zoom. However, she thinks her favorite memories are those that can be overlooked, like waking up early to get coffee and sit in the school parking lot before it fills up with her best friend. Her Quill and Scroll club sponsor, Ms. Marmol, and the Baitline sponsor, Ms. Woolley, have been great inspirations for her through their guidance in her writing. Her friends have also impacted her life by making the difficult times bearable and her great times remarkable. Throughout these four years, she has realized that everything seems to go by quicker than she would have ever thought, but now she is only a few days away from graduating. Some advice she has for incoming students is to take every opportunity they can and understand that you are always good enough to reach your goals. If she could change one thing, she wishes to have slept more and worked less, but Isabel is happy with the position she is in right now. After these work-filled nights of hers, senioritis kicked in after quarantine, canceled tests, and being in the last home stretch of high school. She has kept her engagement in class through interesting documentaries and projects, but these last weeks have been the best for her as she has just been trying to enjoy their time together. She plans to attend Princeton and to major in either English or Public Policy while minoring in Journalism. She dreams about moving to New York, working for a fashion magazine, and giving back to her community. However, even if she cannot reach these goals, Isabel knows she will be satisfied as long as she is writing.
