CCP Meeting/Counseling Session
Students who are interested in participating in College Credit Plus for the next school year, must attend the CCP Information Night on February 12th, at 5:30 PM OR schedule a 1:1 meeting with their school counselor to review the application process and CCP guidelines. It is essential to meet with your counselor prior to the end of March.
This provides notice of the College Credit Plus (CCP) program to Copley-Fairlawn City Schools, students in grades 6 through 11. This information is posted on the school’s website, and written communications including those generally distributed to students, course booklet, student assembly, or information night.
School Counselor, Ms. Elaina Kraft, is the designated point of contact for College Credit Plus at Copley High School and can answer student and parent questions related to the program.

CCP allows high school students earn college and high school credit at the same time through courses at an Ohio college or university. This helps students get ready for college and careers—often at no or low cost.
CHS courses
Some CCP courses are taught at Copley High School by CHS teachers, who are also University of Akron college instructors! See details below about our CCP offerings.
CCP Course Duration - Semester-based
Courses are one semester, instead of a full academic year. Once admitted to the CCP program, students can take courses for the Fall semester (Aug-Dec), Spring semester (Jan-May), and/or Summer semester (May-Aug).
Credits - High School & College Credits
One CCP course is worth one (1) high school credit on the CHS transcript. One CCP course usually equals 3-4 college credit hours (at the college level) on the college transcript. Any courses after the 30 credit hour max must be paid for by the student.
College Application
Application for CCP is located on the college-specific website (i.e. University of Akron webpage) and must be completed by the student using a personal email. All records (transcripts, test scores) are sent by a school counselor from Copley. Application deadline to participate in the Fall semester is April 15.
Required Forms
Students/Parents must also sign & submit required forms (linked below) to CHS school counselors/guidance office as soon as they submit their application online.
Register for Courses
Once admitted to the program, the student is assigned an Academic Advisor from the college. This is similar to the role of a high school counselor. The Academic Advisor is responsible for registering the student for the college course(s). The student must communicate with their high school counselor & their college Academic Advisor.
Will my credits transfer?
Students must start with only Level 1 courses, also known as transferable courses, which are guaranteed to transfer to any public institution in Ohio, although it is important to ask college admissions if they accept CCP, or dual enrollment credits. Many institutions have course equivalency guides on their website or use platforms such as www.transferology.com to help students determine what will transfer.
Potential Risks
The grades (both good and poor) students earn are on their high school and college transcripts permanently.
College course credit may not transfer to private or out of state colleges.
Students who are considered "underperforming" will be limited in the number of CCP courses to take in the future.
Student athletes must remain eligible in accordance with the OHSAA bylaws.
There could be financial risks to being an "underperforming" student. If a student fails a CCP course, the student will owe a fee to the district for the failed class.
