The Association is the premier educational organization for individual members in South Carolina committed solely to the improvement of teacher education.

SCATE annual membership dues are only $30.00 ($15.00 for students, Free for student teaching year).

Payment for your SCATE membership can be made by: check (made payable to SCATE) Paypal, or Zelle (app needed).

Why Join?

The South Carolina unit is affiliated with the Association of Teacher Educators - National office.

SCATE serves in a leadership capacity for issues related to pre-service, graduate, and in-service teacher education. It provides opportunities for professional development through its publications, state conferences, workshops and networking with other educators. Members receive priority for presenting and publishing at sanctioned conferences and publications.

SCATE seeks to:

      • Provide a forum for discussion and debate of current issues

      • Encourage research and the development of educational programs through honors and awards

      • Provide opportunities for individual professional growth

Through the organization, those persons involved in every aspect of the educational enterprise can renew their professional skills and knowledge through the extensive offerings of conferences, publications and research efforts. SCATE offers ongoing programs dedicated to upgrading and improving teacher education through enrichment of individual members.

Sponsoring professional conferences

Each year, SCATE and SCACTE jointly sponsor statewide conferences on current topics and trends for members. These events offer opportunities to interface with the leading practitioners and trendsetters in the profession on a regular basis. The conferences feature cutting-edge topics presented in a rich variety of formats from seminars to workshops to full-scale presentations by state and national leaders in teacher education.

Providing publications and opportunities to publish

Members have on-line access to the Teacher Education Journal of South Carolina. The journal is refereed and reflects the most current and dynamic topics in the teacher education profession. SCATE members will receive priority for publishing if their submission meets the criteria.
