About My Role
Many people think a SLP only works with children on speech sounds or articulation. While proper sound formation and intelligibility are a major part of a SLP’s focus, Language, both expressive (using language) and receptive (understanding language) is another area SLP’s can help improve a child’s educational success. Making sure students know how to sequence (first, last, before, after), follow oral directions (2-step +), problem solve, use/understand vocabulary, organize thoughts and ideas to communicate them meaningfully or simply carry on a conversation are just some of the areas in which a SLP can help provide direct/specialized instruction. Fluency (stuttering) and social language (the way we talk to each other) are additional areas a SLP can be a valuable resource for students and families.

What I love about Conestoga
Our Conestoga elementary staff is an amazing caring group of individuals. When you think of the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child.", our staff honors their role in the village and interacts with all students to enhance their experiences and growth in a safe and healthy environment.

Conestoga has always felt like a family to me. I student taught at Conestoga and knew this was the district I where I wanted to teach.
About Me:
I grew up in Weeping Water. I went to college at Northwest Missouri State University where I earned my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, and Elementary Education with a minor in English. I earned my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College.
I have been married to my husband for 27 years. My husband is a graduate from Conestoga. We live in Otoe, NE and have one dog.
