Program: Into Reading (ensure alignment with Nebraska Teaching Standards)
Reading Routine:
Whole Group Reading where every child works on Kindergarten skills such as letter names, letter sounds, rhyming, blending words, reading sight words, and reading text.
In addition to Whole Group Reading students receive an additional reading block that provides learning opportunities that will best meet your child's needs. This time is determined by completing AIMS Web Plus assessments three times a year. The results of these assessments will be shared by your child's teacher.
A reading study guide will be sent home regularly and will provide parents with skills being learned and ways to practice at home!
In 2019, the state of Nebraska implemented the Nebraska Reading Law which requires the use of assessments in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Students that are identified to be below the 25th percentile in reading are required to have an Individualized Reading Improvement Plan. If your child qualifies for this plan, Mrs. Keene will share the plan and decision making process with you.
Program: Into Math (ensure alignment with Nebraska Teaching Standards)
Math Routine:
Whole Group Math where every child works on Kindergarten skills such as number identification, number writing, counting, addition, subtraction, shapes, etc.
During the math block students complete tasks from a workbook along with math skill center activities and IXL. IXL is used to reinforce skills that student are working on learning in a snap! The skills taught during this time are determined by completing AIMS Web Plus assessments three times a year. The results of these assessments will be shared by your child's teacher.
