New Zealand Trip
February 17 - March 2 2024
CCHS Contact: Melissa Carr (mcarr@concordcarlisle.org)
Overview
Come explore the island nation of New Zealand! This country has a combination of culture and nature like no other. Throughout its history, New Zealand has charted its own course culturally, politically, environmentally, and athletically. The result is a nation with a deep understanding of independence and leadership.
In September, 2023, we will launch the New Zealand Leadership Academy. We will meet monthly for activities that focus on leadership and team-building skills. In February, 2024 we will travel to Aotearoa (the Maori word for New Zealand) to see and learn from this country firsthand.
Highlights will include:
exploring the Maori culture which is rich in philosophies of empowerment, respect, and commitment
spending a night in a marae, the spiritual meeting place of the Maori
paddling a waka - a traditional Maori canoe
rafting in the dark to see glowworms and in the light to see spectacular views of Ka Tiritiri o te Moana (aka the Southern Alps)
interacting with dolphins
learning leadership lessons from the All Black & Black Fern rugby players
Hiking and kayaking along the famous Abel-Tasman trail for 4 days
See the tentative itinerary for more details.
