Overview

The exchange program takes place every two years in conjunction with our sister school Slagelse Gymnasium in Slagelse, Denmark. The Danish students and faculty visit Concord in the fall. CCHS students and teachers travel to Denmark over April vacation the following spring.  A rich cultural exchange and embedded living program, students on both sides stay with host families, shadow each other in school, and enjoy traveling around the local areas.

Logistics

In the 2018-19 school year CCHS hosted 21 Danish students, 2 teachers and 2 school administrators. The Danes visited historic sites around Concord and Boston and took a tour of Harvard and MIT. The students shadowed CCHS students in school and participated in many after school activities. Every year we enjoy a potluck dinner as a group!

Over April vacation of 2019, 14 CCHS students traveled to Denmark and stayed with the students they hosted. They shadowed in the Danish school and learned all about Danish culture. As a group we visited the Roskilde viking museum and cathedral, Odense, which is the birthplace of Hans Christen Andersen, and wrapped up the week touring Copenhagen. Students traveled to a variety of locations around Denmark with their host families.

If you would like more information about the trip, feel free to the coordinator, Tyler Patterson at tpatterson@concordcarlisle.org.
