Italy Trip for Latin students

Overview

The Italy trip is designed to provide students with an opportunity to see first hand in situ the monuments and archaeological sites they have studied in Latin class.  The group led by CCHS Latin teachers will spend 8 days exploring some of the most significant classical sites in Italy. The trip begins with three nights in the beautiful resort town of Sorrento followed by four nights in Rome. Highlights of the trip include an excursion to Pompeii and the Naples archaeological museum, a hike up Mt. Vesuvius, a visit to the ruins of Tiberius’ palace on the captivating island of Capri, personalized tours of the Roman forum, Colosseum, Pantheon, Capitoline Museum and the Galleria Borghese. The trip will also include a day trip to Umbria to explore Etruscan ruins and the medieval Italian village of Orvieto.

Logistics

The next Italy trip will take place over April vacation 2025.  Students must be enrolled in Latin to participate in the trip and priority is given to juniors and seniors. The trip is limited to 28 participants . Information for the 2025 trip will be available in spring 2024.

Cost

The cost of the trip is approximately $4100 which includes airfare, hotels, all breakfasts and dinners, a private tour bus and tour guides, and all museum and archaeological site entrance fees.
