In case you missed it in my email, here is the new QR code to login to Seesaw with - the old QR code will not work, as I have archived last year's class. You will need to add our new class before being able to submit new work samples.
For the directions on how to add the new class, you can find it here or you can go back to your welcome email and look at the attached PDF.
TK-8 "Suggested Work Sample Calendar."
High School "Suggested Work Sample Calendar."
To make sure we are compliant with AB 130, one sample will be due each week, so that by the end of the Learning Period, I have one sample per subject. More samples are always encouraged so we have ample evidence of learning when we go to discuss report cards. Samples will need to coincide with the standard that you chose to focus on for the Learning Period.
Here you will find reminders on what samples need to look like before uploading them to Seesaw or emailing them to me. Please look through the entirety of this page and if you have any questions, please let me know.
**Also, an important reminder! Scholars are not to be grading their own work. As the Learning Coach, it is your responsibility, per the Compass contract you signed, to be correcting your scholar(s) work.**
Some ways to reduce the amount of paper you are printing - have your scholar create a PowerPoint (or Google Slides) presentation for you of everything that they learned in the lesson or chapter. Have your scholar use this AVID portfolio where they can showcase the work they're most proud of each month. This lets them utilize the technology that is accessible to them while being more eco-friendly at the same time. Have your scholar present their presentation to you (this helps them to practice their public speaking skills which is an important skill they will need to learn).
If you choose to utilize the AVID Portfolio, please follow these directions to make it your own! The link above is just an example of what your portfolio should look like.
In addition to the cheat sheet above, for High School Scholars, one sample for every class being taken is required to be turned in every month - this includes any elective classes as well. So gather your samples early and don't wait until the day samples are due.
For High School Scholars, a cumulative test or project (for each core academic class) needs to be turned in at the end of each semester (December and June) to show what your scholar learned over the course of the semester - be creative and have fun with it, but please plan ahead! *This would be a good opportunity to utilize Google Slides or the AVID Portfolio*
For both Middle School and High School Scholars, please do not turn in notes - notes do not tell us how well your scholar comprehended and applied the material - a quiz, test, essay, worksheet, PowerPoint/Google Slide presentation, etc. is what will show us how well your scholar comprehended the material.
If you are using a computer curriculum, such as Teaching Textbooks, please make sure your scholar(s) is writing down all of their work on paper so you can turn that in as their work sample - we cannot accept a screenshot of the grade book (see left) as that doesn't really show us the scholar's actual progress.
This sample is of a TK scholar's work.
The only thing that will need to be added is a grade if the sample is for a scholar in grades 3-12.
This sample is of a 3rd grader's reading lesson.
For any video sample for scholars in grades 3-12, a grade will need to be added. TK-2 scholars do not have to have a grade.
