AVID is a way of teaching that helps to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. Check out the AVID Snapshot I put together below. Also, check out our AVID site here.
AVID provides fun learning activities as well as teaching study skills starting in kindergarten!
I've included the AVID Elementary Foundations Implementation book below - this is an amazing source! It has LOTS of activities that you can do with your scholar(s), including the worksheets needed and directions on how to implement it. Note that these activities can be done between siblings even if they're at different levels - these activities do not have to done between scholars in the same grade. Remember, AVID is all about equal opportunity!
Here is a quick video of all of the fun claps that you can incorporate at home with your scholars!
Note taking is a big part of AVID especially for scholars as they get older - knowing how to take notes and to know what it important so they don't feel that they have to write everything down. In the AVID Snapshot above, it explains the importance of note-taking and all of the different kinds of notes scholars can take. Below, I've included PDFs of each of the four types of note-taking talked about. Feel free to use them if you would like - but please remember that all of this is OPTIONAL.
