This week we will focus on our Core Muscles and Abdominal Strength.
Core exercises train the muscles in your pelvis, lower back, hips and abdomen to work together in harmony. Having strong and stable core muscles can lead to better balance and stability, whether on the playing field or in regular day-to-day activities. In fact, most sports and other physical activities depend on stable core muscles for success!
Your abdominal muscles are your stomach muscles and are a big part of your core muscle group. In the Columbia Fitness Test, we use sit-ups to test abdominal strength. Students are given a certain amount of time to do as many sit-ups as possible.
