Bio
I love getting outside, and I spend a lot of my free time hiking, camping, and backpacking. Although not a climber myself, I respect the sport and connect with the love of the outdoors that climbers have. My educational background is in chemical engineering, and I currently work as a design engineer for a small medical device company.
I am pursing a masters degree in mechanical engineering to continue to develop my engineering knowledge and design skills. I enjoy the design process and seeing a product through it from an idea to reality. Through Advanced Product Design, I have developed an even greater appreciation for the user's perspective during this process and learned tools to help incorporate it.
My Project Work
Concept generation during brainstorming sessions
Organizing and conducting user interviews
Constructing non-MVP and MVP pretotypes
Design and construction of final prototype
Additional Expertise
To fully develop and produce our product, there are additional knowledge and skills I would need to develop:
A better understanding of the metal die casting process and design approaches for decreasing manufacturing cost.
Tensile strength testing methods to test the force rating of the device and a carabiner per industry standards.
A thorough understanding of patents and licensing options to pursue our business strategy of licensing the design.
After climbing in a gym in Houston for a couple of years I decided to work at an outdoor climbing camp at Philmont Scout Ranch, a popular Boy Scout high adventure camp. This experience gave me a lot of insight into how more advanced climbers climb, as well as how instructors and guides work with inexperienced climbers.
My Project Work
Concept generation during brainstorming sessions
Organizing and conducting user interviews
Testing MVP and non-MVP prototypes
Additional Expertise
To fully develop and produce our product, there are additional knowledge and skills I would need to develop:
A better understanding of the climbing industry when it comes to business and sales
Access and understanding of the tools used in testing standards in climbing products
Learn FEA and other online testing software to optimize and design better products
Bio
I love to explore during my free time with hiking and enjoyed the waterfalls back in India during the monsoon season. I'm not a professional climber but would love to try different climbing techniques and eventually do hiking in the Rocky Mountains. I did my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering back in India. Looking to explore Boulder city and the beautiful mountains.
My Project Work:
Helped in generation of ideas during various brainstorming sessions
Coordinated with climbing gyms and conducted user interviews
Done pretotype on lever mechanism during Iteration 1 of pretotype, but it broke during testing.
Helped in conducting user clinic and final testing of product.
Made Business plan for our product
Additional Expertise:
Following is the additional expertise that I need to develop, to fully develop our product.
Develop my creative thinking skills to assist team in brainstorm new possible ideas.
Get expertise in various 3D Printing and Manufacturing techniques for carabiner gate manufacturing.
Expertise in DFM would help in reverse engineering and to do mass manufacturing of product with minimum cost.
Develop strong business acumen to ensure the product is launched successfully and generates higher profits.

I've been snow/water skiing since I was a kid, so the outdoor experiences has been a large part of my life. Recently trying to hike more and I'd like to do some climbing. I got my undergrad in mechanical engineering at the University of Wyoming, and currently working towards my masters in mechanical engineering at the University of Colorado. The picture of me is actually on a hike in Ireland while on a trip with the University of Wyoming marching band.
My Project Work
Provided concept ideation during brainstorming sessions.
Organized and conducted user interviews.
Developed pretotypes using various techniques, including 3D printing.
Developed skills to provide video editing and content creation throughout project.
Additional Expertise
To continue this product forward, here are some additional skills and knowledge I would need to develop:
Furthering my content creation skills to provide high quality videos.
Gaining an understanding of the manufacturing process of existing carabiners to apply to our product.
Learn FEA and other testing methods to aid teammates in final product analysis.
Learn the patents and licensing options to understand how to fulfill our marketing plan.
