Collingwood Primary School

A message from Mrs Buckland-Garnett, Headteacher

On behalf of staff, governors and pupils, I extend a very warm welcome to our website.

At Collingwood we provide a nurturing experience that will well equip your child through those first important years of their education. Our staff  are passionate about treating children as individuals, following their interests, and supporting them in building successful relationships and achieving their true potential. We believe that learning is for life and that this should be fun!

“The school’s provision for the welfare of pupils and the promotion of their well-being and safety is outstanding, "pupils feel extremely safe and happy at school.”  “Pupils make at least good and sometimes outstanding progress” “very strong links with parents to promote children’s learning and well-being,” and that, “Leaders have created an environment where pupils flourish.” Ofsted April 2016.

In June 2021 Inspectors revisited and concluded that "Collingwood continues to be a good school" "Pupils enjoy attending this welcoming and caring school.  They are enthusiastic about what they are learning and want to do their best." "Pupils are polite and kind" and "keen to help one another".

Our prospectus, the video on this page and the class pages on this website, will give you some idea of our happy, friendly school but nothing beats meeting our staff and pupils for yourself.  Please contact Miss Massey or Mrs Bower in our school office  on 01245 322258 to arrange a visit.  I look forward to meeting you.    Mrs A Buckland-Garnett

Who can help you at Collingwood?

Miss Massey or Mrs Bower, who can be found in our main office, are always happy to help you with dates and events, school meals and day to day matters, including attendance.

If your question is about learning, teachers can be contacted directly via email (Use this format:  firstletteroffirstnamesurname@collingwood.school) however, they may not be able to reply to your request immediately and are encouraged, for their own wellbeing and work life balance, not to reply out of their working hours.  If your request is urgent please ask at the office.

If you need support in ensuring your child attends school regularly, contact The Headteacher or one of our Assistant Heads who will work with you to improve your child's attendance and punctuality. The name of our linked Governor with responsibility for monitoring attendance is:

Mr J Kennard; govjkennard@collingwood.school

If you are concerned about a child’s safety or wellbeing during term time Please speak to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads.  These are:

Mrs Buckland-Garnett

(Headteacher)

Miss Shanley

(Assistant Headteacher/SENDCo)

Mrs Dudley

(7 'til 6 Club)

Mrs Chettur

(7 'til 6 Club)

We will take your concerns seriously, however small.  Far better to report and protect the next person than ignore it!
