GENERATIVE AI POLICY STARTER KIT FOR K-12

The aim of this starter kit is to help jump-start a school's or district's thinking about how to help teachers and students use genAI ethically and effectively. Here, we provide draft language in three different forms — stand-alone policy, existing policy amendments, and practice guidelines. 

You will see both redundancy and contradictions in this draft language; our hope is that by supplying a range of options, people can mix-and-match, using and adapting the language that most closely suits their needs. 

We envision that these drafts will be reviewed and considered by groups of stakeholders — administrators, policy makers, teachers, students, and families — as one step in a larger process of building and sharing strong and sound genAI educational practices.
