Focus: Preparing for the college application process and/or career transitioning
Test(s): PSAT and ACT
Strategies for Success: Your Junior year is important because you will use your end of year GPA to introduce yourselves to prospective colleges and universities. Work hard and stay focused academically to present your best self. In the Fall, you will take the PSAT. This is an important opportunity as it provides data on those academics that may need a little polishing before you take the SAT. It’s also an opportunity to receive A LOT of scholarships. If you do well, you could be named a National Merit Scholar.
In the Spring, you will take the ACT, free of charge provided by NCDPI. This is the real deal, giving you a college reportable score for future applications. Make sure to study for these tests, and do not forget to practice with your test taking strategies, especially timing and endurance.
