Portraits

A portrait is a picture of a person. A self-portrait is a picture of yourself. Proportion means the size and placement of a shape.

Below are a few drawing activities based on portraits. Try one or try them all!

Here is a drawing guide that explains the general proportions of portraits. Be sure that you draw the guidelines lightly, as you will need to erase them as you finish your drawing.

I would suggest you look in the mirror to create a self-portrait. You could also ask a family member to sit for you while you draw their portrait. Looking at photographs can be helpful, too. You could create a portrait of everyone in your family!

Here is a fun family activity from Art for Kids Hub that you may want to try this weekend. Everyone draw a part of the portrait and then passes it on to the next person to add to. The results are some pretty funny drawings and lots of family fun!
