Class Dojo:
One way I will track student behavior this year is by using the app Class Dojo. Class Dojo is a great way for families to check in on their child's behaviors throughout the day. It is also another way for you to communicate with me and read class messages.

Youngman Bucks:
Along with Class Dojo I use classroom dollars called "Youngman Bucks" to reward positive behavior in the classroom! Students can earn "money" for excellent behavior, completing and turning in homework assignments, active participation etc.. At the end of the week they can use their money to buy items from my class store (treasure box). However, students can also lose money for unwanted behaviors such as; disruptive behaviors during learning time (excessive talking, off task etc..) no homework, bully behavior etc.. Students will always be given a warning and a chance to change their actions before losing money. If I have to speak to a student multiple times or take away several dollars, a phone call home will be made.
Students can also earn money by completing their weekly jobs. I will use the first two weeks of school to go over the class jobs and what they entail. I then ask students to think about positive traits they have that would make them a great candidate for that role. I hold "interviews" to hire for each position (every student will get a job that is best for them). Students will show responsibility by remembering to complete their job daily and holding their earnings.
