NEW FOR VIRTUAL LEARNING:
One or more of the following student learning activities performed on a school day constitutes that the student is “present off-site”:
Present for live online instruction for 51% or more of the scheduled time
Submits classwork within 1-day of assigned date
Evidence of engagement with course content
Two-way course content-related communication between student & teacher
Absent for live online instruction; watches recording of instruction on same day
During remote learning, attendance must be entered daily for every student. Elementary and middle school attendance is taken by the homeroom teacher. A student cannot be considered absent solely due to not logging into an online resource/lesson on a remote learning day.
Excused absences include: illness, religious holiday, medical appointments, court proceedings and death of an immediate family member. A student is allowed no more than 10 unexcused absences per year. ( NC policy)

Please ensure your child is attending school on a regular basis as absences directly affect instruction. Send a note after every absence explaining the reason, even if it is unexcused for documentation purposes. You are allowed to email your excuse to the teacher, Mrs. Means, or myself. The left hand side of the Eastover Website is a place to report your absence as well.
Chronic absences= 15 or more
Warning Signs= 10-15 days
Satisfactory= 9 or fewer
Parents should:
Set regular bed time and morning routines.
Lay out clothes the night before/ pack packs
Don't let your child stay home unless they are truly sick. Keep in mind that complaints of headache or stomach ache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home. ( if your child is experiencing this- please contact me so I may assist you)
