Kindergarten

I believe Kindergarten is the most important year in a student's life. If they love kindergarten then they will love school. At the beginning of each year I teach the children about the role of the school counselor. We compare my profession to that of Ms. Potato head. Starting the end of September I visit the classrooms weekly to teach social skills. I use the Second Step Program that is researched based to teach and practice social skills. At the end of the social skills lessons (May) I complete a post test with every students. Students that are found to need more support in social skills are then pulled for small group counseling.
