We expect for all staff members to engage in professional learning each year.
Professional Development opportunities are school-based, district, or through third party providers. Each staff member is responsible for meeting the requirements for renewal credits for a continuing license.
District, face-to-face and digital course offerings are provided though the CMS MyTalent platform.
If the PD does not provide funding, please complete a PD Funding Request Form to apply for substitute funding and submit the form to Mr. Legrand. Funding is provided on a first come, first serve basis. All forms should be submitted well in advance. To be considered for professional development leave, you must complete an RFA form.
A Professional Development Plan (PDP) is required for all permanent CMS employees. The purpose of the professional development plan is to provide opportunities for CMS employees to grow and improve in their positions. PDPs should be developmental and be based on any previous performance feedback an employee has received. Professional development strategies can look different based on the employee.
The goal is development in a specific area of growth for that employee which can be accomplished through many means. Goals should support the school/department’s improvement efforts. Goals may address areas where an employee needs to improve performance or behavior.
Supervisors and employees collaborate to develop:
•Measurable goal(s)
•Expected outcomes
•Activities required to successfully complete the goal
•A timeline for completion
