ATL (Approaches to Learning): The Approaches to Learning are the "soft skills" of the IB program, including social, thinking, research, self-management, and collaborative skills.
CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service): Students in the Diploma Program are required to complete Creativity, Activity, and Service hours. See the Service page for more information.
CP (Career-related Program): The CP is one of the IB programs for students in grades 11 and 12.
DP (Diploma Program): The DP is one of the IB programs for students in grades 11 and 12.
EE (Extended Essay): DP students complete an Extended Essay, an argumentative research paper anchored in a subject area. The paper is written under the supervision of a faculty member in the subject area and must not exceed 4,000 words.
IA (Internal Assessment): DP students have an Internal Assessment task for each of their DP classes. This task will be completed partly in class and partly outside of class, but always with teacher supervision and support. The IA typically counts for about 20% of the overall IB exam grade.
Learner Profile: The Learner Profile is a central component of all IB programs, listing 10 attributes for IB learners: balanced, reflective, risk-taker, inquirer, caring, communicator, knowledgeable, thinker, open-minded, and principled.
MYP (Middle Years Program): The MYP is the IB program for students in grades 6 through 10.
PP (Personal Project): The Personal Project is a requirement of 10th graders in the MYP. See the MYP page for more information.
PPS (Personal and Professional Skills): PPS is a required course taken by students in the CP. The course focused on themes of personal development, intercultural understanding, effective communication, thinking processes, and applied ethics.
Reflective Project: CP students complete the Reflective Project by researching and presenting an ethical concern in their career field.
SA (Service as Action): Students in the MYP are required to complete Service as Action hours. See the Service page for more information.
Service Learning: Students in the CP are required to complete Service Learning hours, including time spent in an unpaid internship in their target career field.
ToK (Theory of Knowledge): Theory of Knowledge is a course taken by DP students which challenges students to consider their prior learning in different Areas of Knowledge through the lenses of Ways of Knowing. The course is assessed through an essay on a prescribed title (titles provided annually by IB) and through a presentation/exhibition.
