I am Ms. Algier and I am so excited to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year! This year will be full of exploration that will help us master content, as well as activities that will help create a positive classroom community. Our classroom will become a place where your child is valued, trusted, and integrated into our family of diverse learners! There is no limit to what we can accomplish when we work with and learn from each other! Here’s to a great school year! I want to share a little about me! I am a graduate of SUNY Brockport, where I recently earned a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. My graduate research was focused on child cognitive development, advocacy in education, class management, social and emotional needs, and effective instructional methods. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Houghton College in Inclusive Childhood Education with a concentration in math and science. I have taught in multiple countries working with a diverse range of student populations from refugees in Lebanon to university students in Turkey and Cambodia. I was a 2nd grade teacher at an American School in Fez, Morocco for 2 years. I am excited to learn and grow alongside of my students this year as a new teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District!
