The IHS National Technical Honor Society- NTHS is a student organization that recognizes and encourages higher scholastic achievement in career technology education, cultivates a desire for personal excellence, and helps top students find success in today’s highly competitive workplace. Who can join: Juniors and seniors who meet the below criteria:
Desire to operate with a service and scholarship attitude:
Pursue a career in your choice of technical program
Enrollment in Career Technical Education
unweighted GPA of 3.00 or above
“A/B” average in your CTE Pathway classes
No academic, attendance or discipline issues
Recommendation of a CTE teacher
Junior or Senior
All eligible students will get an invitation in their student email along with the application details from Ms. Thomas by end of September. Induction will be in the afternoon on a Thursday in November (TBD). Membership dues are $35.00 for this national charter. NTHS members get a certificate of induction, membership card, tassel, sticker seal for your High school diploma, access to NTHS scholarships and unlimited bragging rights. Members will also be recognized in the graduation program. Besides that colleges prefer NTHS applicants when making selection to their competitive programs.
Once inducted, members must check their emails for NTHS updates and attend 50 % of the meetings( we meet virtually 2nd Monday of the month when needed OR follow through the NTHS news email/remind Ms. Thomas sends ). They are expected to complete one service project each semester and remain in good academic standing in order to be considered an active member. Students must also join the NTHS remind by texting @NTHSIHS to the number 81010. Our meetings provide a forum for members to plan community service opportunities. Other opportunities IHS NTHS members are expected to complete by their senior year:
-Complete a paid internship through opportunities Ms. Thomas coordinates or find opportunity you seek on your own.
-Be a IHS ambassador for school promotions and your CTE pathway showcase
