Meet Ms. Thomas

Hello, I am Charise Thomas, 

I am very excited to share my website and information about me so that student's, and families can become more familiar with Who I Am! I am the High School Career and Technical Education Coordinator at Independence High School. My goal is to help students with College Readiness, Careers, Internships, Apprenticeships, Field Trips and gathering the data of all students about what they want to do after high school.  

I work collaboratively with administrators, counselors, teachers, parents, business/industry partners, post-secondary institutions, and community organizations to ensure the delivery of career development services for students.

I have three amazing children, a Graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (Anthony) who has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, he's currently an Engineer in Maryland. My daughter (Alisha) graduated in 2021 from East Carolina University, she in currently in the Physicians Assistant School on a full-ride scholarship at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.  My youngest daughter is in sixth Grade (Trinity) at a CMS school.  I am committed to education not only helping my own children, but all students.

I was educated in the public school system in Chester, Pennsylvania, a little town right outside of Philadelphia.  I obtained my Associates in Business Administration, and Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing Management from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware, and my Masters Degree in Business Education with a Concentration in Management from Strayer University in Charlotte, NC.  I recently earned my National Board Certification in December 2024.

This is my 3rd year as a Patriot at Independence High School and my 20th year with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
