Hunting Specters - A legal treasure hunt

The Centre for International Legal Studies organised a treasure hunt based on international law on the 6th of September,2023. The event aimed to inculcate the basic concepts of international law in students through a series of clues based on the crucial aspects of global conventions and international legal affairs. The Centre invited teams of three to participate in this competition wherein the students were required to reach the end goal by analyzing and deducing the hints provided for. The event was a massive success attracting more than 50 participants.

CMRU SOLS MUN 2022-23


The initiation of CMRU SOLS MUN 2022 on November 21st and 22nd is an attempt to inspire and inculcate in student participants an understanding of the intricacies of international laws, conventions, and functioning of the United Nations Organization. This will also serve to enhance student research, drafting, networking, analysis and public speaking skills and promote a deeper appreciation of national and global matters with understanding on the global community.

In commemoration of World Food Day, observed annually in the month of October , the Centre for International Legal Studies in collaboration with the Social Impact Club presents "Swasthya Khadyam Utsav" - a healthy food fest to promote the cause of healthy food and living. The surplus proceeds from the event were utilized towards donation of food to the less privileged.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The Centre for International Legal Studies at CMR University School of Legal Studies, aims at encouraging students of law to hone and cultivate their critical analysis and literary presentation skills.

In order to facilitate the same, the Centre for International Legal Studies proposes to conduct “GAP Analysis on International Convention vis-a-vis Indian regulation” in an attempt to inspire student participants to understand the practicalities involved in the implementation of international conventions, at the State level. This will enhance student research, writing and analysis skills and encourage an extensive understanding of the implications of conventions.

The International Human Rights Day is commemorated annually by the global community on December 10th, in recognition of the day on which the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in 1948. The theme for the International Human Rights Day 2021 is "Equality - Reducing inequalities, advancing human rights".

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN


The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, recognized annually on the 25th of November by the United Nations. This year's umbrella theme for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, collect!” and it focuses on “UNESCO says NO to violence against women”. As a tradition, the Day will mark the launch of 16 days of activism that will conclude on the day designated as the International Human Rights Day.

Centre for International Legal Studies in CMR University, School of Legal Studies is dedicated to help the students understand the global issues and undertake research in order to cultivate a new perspective in young minds with regards to the same. Apart from supporting with research, the centre conducts workshops, lectures and seminars to students to provide knowledge on international law.

REPORT  ON  THE  INAUGURATION

The Centre for International Legal Studies was inaugurated at CMR University School of Legal Studies, Bengaluru on 26th July, 2021 through an online inaugural ceremony. The ceremony is blessed by the auspicious presence of the dignitaries and the esteemed guests Prof. V.G. Hegde, Prof. (Dr.) V. Balakista Reddy, Dr Sandeepa Bhat, and Prof. Chambi Puranik, along with the Dean of CMR University, School Of Legal Studies, Prof. Dr. T. R. Subramanya were present in the virtual session.
