Centre for Alternate Dispute Resolution
“Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often the real loser — in fees, and expenses, and waste of time. As a peace-maker the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough.” – Abraham Lincoln

The CMR University School of Legal Studies' Center for Alternate Dispute Resolution, seeks to achieve excellence in its core area of activity, "ADRS". The Centre seeks to emphasize a study of the various dispute resolution systems existing both nationally and internationally, as one of its core areas of activity. It further proposes to integrate a student centric approach into administering ADR activity. The Centre also looks to establish extensive collaborations with institutions, both professional and academic, engaged in this exiting new area.
The Alternate Dispute Resolution Centre (herein after called as ADR Centre) seeks to pioneer novel and innovative means of addressing ADR administration. ADR refers to any means of settling disputes outside of the courtroom. ADR typically includes early neutral evaluation, negotiation, conciliation, mediation, and arbitration. Alternate Dispute Resolution is a new and emerging inter-disciplinary field that is concerned with, inter-alia, the following themes:
the study of the causative structural factors and the subjective motives of the actors giving rise to disputes;
the study of the formal and informal institutions dedicated to the resolution of disputes; and
the study of the laws and regulations to produce fair outcomes of disputes.
