Your guide to VU Polytechnic applications
Applications are open at VU Polytechnic for TAFE courses commencing in 2022. To assist students in their application process, we’ve created this helpful how to apply video.
For students interested in a trades apprenticeship, here is a step-by-step guide to help them get started:
1) Research
We encourage students to do their research on whether an apprenticeship is right for them. At any stage, students and parents can speak to a course advisor. VU Polytechnic offer a broad range of trades, including carpentry, electrotechnology, plumbing, bricklaying, and more.
2) Find an employer
Students can find a local apprenticeship network provider or contact an employer directly.
3) Enrol in a course
Once an employer registers a student as an apprentice with an apprenticeship network provider and chooses VU Polytechnic as the preferred provider, that’s when our tailored support steps in. The student will be invited onto campus (pending restrictions) to ensure their enrolment is successfully completed. Staff members will be available to assist. The process can take up to 3 hours and during this time, students will complete all requirements, including their Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.
4) Get started
Once the enrolment process is complete, the student is ready to begin their apprenticeship!
