Special Entry Requirements for Teaching, Medicine, Dentistry and Oral Health
Initial Teacher Education - Victoria
Students planning to apply for initial teacher education courses in Victoria for the 2024 intake are required to sit the Casper test. Casper is an online, open-response situational judgment test (SJT). It asks what you would do in a tough situation, and more importantly, why. This helps determine behavioural tendencies of applicants pursuing people-centered professions.
Students will be required to take the following test: CSP 10409 – Australian Undergraduate Teacher Education. During the registration process, you will select the universities you would like your results sent to. Register for the test via https://acuityinsights.app/casper.
MEDICINE - DENTISTRY - ORAL HEALTH
If you are in Year 12 and plan to apply for medicine, dentistry and/or oral health to start in 2024, you may need to sit the UCAT ANZ (University Clinical Aptitude Test).
You will sit the test mid-year and selected universities use your UCAT ANZ results as part of the selection process, in conjunction with your ATAR and Year 12 results, and in some cases an interview.
You will only have one chance to sit the UCAT ANZ this year. It will cost you $325 to sit the test, or $199 concession, and you will be able to receive your results straight away.
Please go to www.ucat.edu.au for more information about the UCAT ANZ, to see if you have to sit the test, and to register for the test. Registrations open on Wednesday 1 March.

Early Entry - University
No doubt you’ve heard the term ‘early entry’ and you’re keen to apply for programs. Early entry enables universities to look at factors other than just the ATAR when making course offers.
It's important to know the following:
Early entry programs are different at each university.
There are different application methods, and different application dates.
Each program takes different criteria into consideration. These could include:
A soft skills statement
Year 11 results
A recommendation from your school
A personal statement
History of community service/leadership
Some early entry programs are designed to give applicants ‘unconditional offers. This usually means a course offer that is ATAR and study score free. Others have conditions such as meeting a guaranteed ATAR and meeting minimum study scores.

Swinburne University
2024 _Early Entry Program
Applications for our Early Entry Program open on Monday 1 May. We have retained the same application process as last year.
The program will continue to allow students to apply to Swinburne early and without their ATAR, with early offers based on both a recommendation from their school and responses to the next gen_now questionnaire. We welcome applications from students who believe they’re next gen innovators, but don’t think their Year 12 results will reflect their potential as a uni student. Keep an eye out for more details once applications open next week.
Vocational Diploma to Degree packaged pathways
Our Vocational Diploma to Degree packaged pathways are again available for 2024 entry.
If you have a student completing VCE Vocational Major or an unscored VCE, and they still aspire to complete a bachelor degree, these courses offer an excellent pathway that is accessible through VTAC.
Business, Criminal Justice and Criminology, Digital Construction Management, Education, Media and Communication and Psychological Sciences are among the pathways available.
These courses have their own VTAC course code and will be available to preference via VTAC once applications open on Monday 31 July.
If you would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to reach out via the contact details in the email signature.
