This course covers safety, equipment, and skills used in the shielded metal arc welding process. Upon successful completion, the student should be competent to produce quality fillet welds on carbon steel using the shielded metal arc welding process in the following positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead. Welds produced by the student will be evaluated by the instructor. Students will be required to purchase their own helmets, gloves, and other related equipment. This course covers the techniques for all positions of welding ferrous (stainless steel) and nonferrous metals. The student will learn how to produce quality gas metal arc welds for Butt, Lap, and Tee joints in the following positions: flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead. Welds produced by the student will be evaluated by the instructor. Students will be required to purchase their own helmets, gloves, and other related equipment.
