Introduction

Welcome to the Clifton Notties boarding family. We trust that your child’s time with us will be happy, memorable, and fun-filled. The information contained herein will assist you and your child during his or her stay with us.

The boarding experience will help your child grow more independent and confident as they will be responsible for their possessions and space. Boarders form long-lasting and happy relationships with their peers as they spend time together playing and experiencing the beautiful environment that they are so fortunate to be part of.

Boarding Houses

Sutcliffe House for girls opened in 1997. It is named after Mr Anthony Sutcliffe, a former Clifton Headmaster, and accommodates up to 48 girls.

Usher House for boys was named and dedicated to the memory and generosity of Lady Nora Usher and houses up to 60 boys.

Pastoral Care

Residential staff (staff who reside on campus permanently) are involved in the general care of the children and play an active role in the lives of the boarders. Two staff members, referred to as the Members on Duty (M.O.D.) are on duty each day of the week for homework and over weekends. The staff on duty deal with queries and visitors and supervise the general activities of the boarders on the campus.

Boarding staff on duty are available after hours for any emergencies.

Dormitories

Girl boarders are assigned to Sutcliffe House, and boy boarders to Usher House. Boarders are assigned to dormitories by age. Where possible, children in the same grade are grouped. Depending on the availability of beds, children may occasionally be grouped with children who are one year older or one year younger than them at the time.

Junior Primary boarders are placed in dormitories close to the boarding House Parents for ease of care.
