Sew-in Labels
Sew-in labels are a pre-requisite for all boarders. Handwritten, stamped names and iron-in labels are not permitted as these tend to fade over time or peel off. Each item of clothing and footwear, linen and sporting equipment must be clearly marked with the child’s first name, surname and laundry number. E.g.: John Smith 150.
Sew-in labels can be ordered directly from Just Labels (sales@justlabels.co.za / 031 266 1738) (www.justlabels.co.za). Delivery can be made to the school, or an address of your choice. Should you request school delivery, the address is as follows:
The School Shop
Clifton Preparatory School
1 Loteni Road
Nottingham Road
3280
Labels should be sewn in as follows and not visible on the outer side of the uniform:
Shorts, pants, underwear – inside back of waistband
Shirts, jerseys, tracksuit tops – inside collar
Socks – inside top fold or elastic
Sheets and duvets – on an outside corner
Pillow slips – on the fold
Sock bag - on the front
Termly boarders may bring a small bag of home clothing for use if going out for weekends (no more than two sets). Casual clothing should also be labelled.
Sewing Charges
The School Shop can also arrange for labels to be sewn in on campus if necessary. Please email school.shop@cliftonprep.org.za if you would like us to assist you with sewing services. Spare labels can be kept on campus, should your child need to purchase uniform items during the year.
Clothing purchased at the start of the year or during the year and labelled by the School will be charged to the parents' school account accordinly.
Sports Equipment, Stationery, and Boarding Essentials
Parents, please ensure that your child’s termly sports equipment, stationery, bedding and all boarding essentials are labelled and brought to school at the start of each term. Please remember to include the laundry number on any clothing items.
Please refer to the School Handbook for the list of sports that are played each term.
The following boarding essentials are required and the quantities serve as a guideline only:
Boarder Requirements
Please refer to the Boarder Requirements list.
Damaged Clothing
Torn or damaged clothing must be repaired at home. Children are encouraged to take care of their clothing and wear their uniforms proudly.
Lost Property
Boarders are responsible for their belongings and are reminded to care for and store them safely throughout the year. Should an item go missing at school it should be reported to the House Parent immediately. Items found lying around are sent to a lost property box. It is the child’s responsibility to check this collection point for missing items. The Head of Boarding should be informed immediately of any items of value that go missing. Unlabelled clothing is displayed weekly and if not claimed by the end of each term, will be donated to charity.
Laundry
In our ongoing commitment to efficiency and service excellence, we have made the decision to outsource our laundry services to GezaGeza Cleaning Services, a locally based, BEE-certified provider. The selected company is well-respected in the community, has excellent references, and a proven track record of reliable, professional service. This decision was not taken lightly and aims to ensure that we continue to deliver the highest quality of service to our boarders.
Importantly, we want to assure you that the laundry process for the children will remain unchanged. We have ensured that they will continue to manage their laundry in the same way as before, with no disruption to their routine. We have complete confidence in the new service provider’s ability to uphold the standards we expect at Clifton.
We anticipate a seamless transition, with all logistics and quality controls remaining under close supervision to ensure continuity and high standards. We are confident that this new partnership will maintain, if not enhance, the level of service our boarders currently receive.
