A comprehensive process to prepare students for career transition is in place. Students are given co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities that support career goals. Students are supported and recognized by staff.
Introduction to Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security is the first course in the Law and Justice Pathway. In this course, we will explore career opportunities in Public Safety in the fields of law enforcement, corrections, legal services, and emergency management. The employability skills that will be demonstrated in this course is professionalism, teamwork, and communication in classroom and simulated environments.
Criminal Justice Essentials is the second course in the Law and Justice Pathway. In this course, we will examine rank structures, operational strategies, and workplace rights. The employability skills that will be applied is problem solving, ethical decision-making, and workplace protocols.
Forensic Science/Criminal Investigations is the third course in the Law and Justice Pathway. In this course, we will research and present on careers in law and justice. The employability skills that will be demonstrated is professional communication, ethics, and accountability in workplace settings. While in completing this course, we will also promote and sign students to Work based learning where all the employability skills can be executed and mastered prior to graduating from high school.
At Forest Park High School, each student receives individual counseling to focus on becoming industry certified that is centered on building real-world readiness through rigorous preparation, hands-on practice, and personalized support from counselors, and the CTAE department. Each student receives individual graduation coaching from their counselors and school graduation coach.
Students are also guided to understand the value of earning credentials that align with today's workforce. Through targeted skill-building, scenario-based application, and access to high-quality resources, students develop the confidence and competence needed to successfully complete certification exams. This focus not only strengthens their technical abilities but also empowers them to pursue postsecondary opportunities and enter the workforce with a competitive edge.
Students has to complete a senior portfolio prior to graduation at Forest Park High School. The senior portfolio is a key graduation requirement that assists teachers with college/career preparation. The senior portfolio consists of recommendation letters, resume, community service hours, work experience, college and career plans, and pictures. The students must present the senior portfolio in order to receive credit towards graduation.

CERTIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATE
Each student is required to successfully pass each Law and Justice course. At the conclusion of the 3rd course, the student are required to take and pass the End of Pathway Assessment (EOPA). Forest Park High School utilizes the NOCTI Assessment, a national exam, to evaluate student's knowledge of the Law and Justice Pathway.
The End of the Pathway assessment (NOCTI) is an essential tool designed to verify that students who has completed all 3 courses of Law and Justice Pathway have mastered the material through knowledge and skills taught. It ensures that students can apply legal concepts, demonstrate procedural understanding, and exhibit the critical thinking expected in fields such as law enforcement, corrections, emergency communications, and legal services. Successful passing of the EOPA also provides students with an industry-recognized credential, strengthening their employability and reinforcing the pathway's commitment to producing career-ready, ethically grounded future professionals.
Outstanding Performance: Over the past three years, approximately 61 students have taken the NOCTI exam, achieving an impressive 98% passing rate. Last 2 years, accolades were given for 100% passing rate for the Law and Justice pathway. This displays a productive and effective curriculum at Forest Park High.

The Forest Park High School SkillsUSA chapter continues to distinguish itself as a powerhouse of leadership, service, and career readiness. Over the past three years, more than 100 dedicated members have stepped forward to represent the school and community through an impressive range of activities, including Region Competitions, State Leadership Conferences, and the Champion at Work Rally. Beyond competition, the chapter has demonstrated a deep commitment to service by organizing Toy Drives, Shoe Drives, and Coat Drives that directly support families in need. Students have also engaged in civic awareness and advocacy through participation in Day at the Capitol, gaining firsthand insight into government and public policy. Together, these experiences reflect a chapter that not only excels in SkillsUSA’s core values but also builds confident, compassionate leaders prepared to make a meaningful impact in their future careers.

Work-Based Learning at Forest Park High School is designed to bridge classroom instruction with real-world career experience, giving CTAE students meaningful opportunities to apply their skills in professional settings. Among the most impactful options is the Clayton County Firefighter and EMS pathway, which allows eligible students to gain firsthand exposure to emergency services through supervised placements with local fire and EMS departments. Students learn alongside trained professionals, observe critical response operations, and develop essential competencies such as teamwork, communication, and situational awareness. Upon successful completion of the Firefighter and EMS pathway, students become eligible for employment with Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services, where entry-level firefighters earn a starting salary of approximately $52,000. This pathway not only strengthens students’ understanding of public safety careers but also prepares them for postsecondary training and future employment in fire services, emergency medical response, and related fields.
In addition to hands-on Work-Based Learning opportunities, Forest Park High School’s CTAE program enriches student interest in Law and Public Safety through regular engagement with industry professionals and immersive field experiences. Guest speakers from the Forest Park Police Department, school resource officers, and the Deputy over Training from the Georgia Department of Corrections provide students with firsthand insight into policing, corrections, and community safety. Each year, students also participate in field trips to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia, and the GBI Crime Lab, where they observe real training environments, forensic processes, and the advanced technology used in modern investigations. These experiences are intentionally designed to inspire students, broaden their understanding of public safety careers, and motivate them to pursue pathways that protect and serve their communities.
