I work closely with our counseling departments at both Forest Park High and feeder schools to ensure students are informed, supported, and properly placed within the Law and Justice Pathway. This collaboration focuses on student recruitment, academic guidance, and career alignment.
STUDENT RECRUITMENT & AWARENESS
I collaborate with feeder school counselors to host informational sessions, classroom visits, and career pathway fairs, introducing middle school 8th-grade students to the Law and Justice Pathway. Counselors help identify students who have an interest in law, public safety, or careers related to government.
COURSE ADVISEMENT & SCHEDULING
I partner with our school counselors to ensure that students are appropriately scheduled in the required sequence of pathway courses. Together, we monitor student progress, credits, and completion requirements to support graduation and pathway certification.
PARENT AND STUDENT COMMUNICATION
The counselors and I coordinate to share program information with parents and students during parent night, orientation, and family engagement events. This helps ensure that all stakeholders understand the academic expectations and career opportunities the pathway provides.
ACADEMIC & SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
We collaborate to identify students who may need additional academic or social-emotional support to remain successful in the program. Counselors provide guidance and resources while I ensure that instructional and behavioral supports are aligned with the student’s goals.
CAREER & COLLEGE READINESS
I work with our FPHS counseling team, our CTAE Leads, and the Work-based Learning Coordinator to connect students to postsecondary programs, dual enrollment opportunities, internships, and career experiences in the field of law and justice. Together, we ensure students graduate with both academic preparation and real-world readiness.
