Within this element you will investigate four main ideas:
1a. What skills and knowledge are required by students? (on Page 1 and on Page 1a)
1b. What numeracy processes are relevant and appropriate to the student's ability and year level? (Page 1b)
1c. Which support strategies link to which maths processes? (Page 1c)
1d. Which learning models and language meets students needs? (Page 1d)
What is expected of students at different stages of learning in Maths and numeracy is based on what curriculum specialists and learning theorists know and understand about how students learn and when they are capable of learning particular sets of ideas and information.
You will discuss this more as we work through Pages 1a-1d.
Using the template provided from this link or below (or a similar document that you create), and just looking at the Number strand of Mathematics or the Numeracy Skills progressions which are on the Numeracy in the Curriculum page, list some of the:
a) skills, and
b) knowledge
that students need to develop in one of their years of schooling.
