Email Subject - [Action Needed] Classical Academy Middle School - 26/27 Math level, ASB application, and 26/27 Calendar.
Hello from Classical Academy Middle School! We are excited to have your new or returning student with us next year.
Please read through the following information carefully. There is a lot covered in this email, but we hope to get this information to you early so that you are able to plan and be ready to start CAMS in the Fall.
EXTRACURRICULARS
First, there are a few activities we invite your student to apply for. ASB takes place outside of the regular school hours. The ASB application must be completed by the student.
ASB Application (click here) - Due online by Friday, May 29th.
Please note that Yearbook Applications, Electives, Musical Theatre, and any after-school sports sign-ups will come at the start of the new school year.
MATH OPTIONS
Second, you need to determine what math level your student will be taking in the Fall. Typically, 7th graders should be going into Math 7, and 8th graders into Math 8. Unless your student is advanced, wants to accelerate, or is significantly behind.
Since we offer several different math levels, it is important to know what level your student will be taking before we assign schedules this summer. All incoming 7th graders and new students, please refer to the email sent to you in April, (find a copy here) to help guide you in the Math class your student should take.
Sigma Information - If your student tested into Sigma, and you want to learn more about the class, please watch our presentation on Sigma Math at CAMS: click here (5:41).
If your student tested into Sigma, and you plan to have them take the class in the fall, please sign up for the mandatory Sigma Contract Meeting here.
CLASS REGISTRATION SURVEY - Due June 7th.
Finally, ALL students attending Classical Academy Middle School during the 2026/2027 school year must complete this quick Math Class Registration Survey by June 7th. Through this form, you will select which math level your student will be going into in the Fall, as well as other information we will need to know in order to create their class schedule.
**For students who have not passed the Math Readiness Assessment yet, please fill out the survey with the math level you plan for your student to take.
CAMS does not use FixIt Grammar. Grammar will still be taught in English class, but through other resources that the teachers have found more effective for our students. Parents have the option to supplement grammar instruction at home with IEW FixIt Grammar, please complete the form linked here.

Hello from Classical Academy Middle School!
We are excited to have your student with us next year. Please read below for very important information regarding Math Readiness for your incoming Badger.
Overview of what is covered in this Email:
Math Courses available at CAMS
Math Readiness Assessments are required for ALL incoming CAMS students
Math Readiness Assessments are offered in April/May - sign up below.
Math Success is the Goal!
It is crucial that students develop a strong sequential understanding of math content and math concepts as they move from grade to grade. In the event that students miss or do not have a firm grasp of the content or concepts at one math level, they are likely to struggle as they progress to the next math level.
Our goal at The Classical Academies is for every student to be enrolled in their appropriate grade-level math course. However, middle school can be an ideal time for students to accelerate, if desired, or get caught up if behind. Learn more about what math courses are offered at the high school & the detailed progression chart linked below.
At Classical Academy Middle School, we offer several math levels: Essentials, Math 7, Sigma Math, Math 8, Math I, and Math II (through CAHS).
Watch our presentation on Math at CAMS: click here (9:02).
View the Math Progression chart linked here.

Math Readiness Assessments
Each Spring, The Classical Academies will administer math readiness assessments to make sure students are ready for the next math level. All students must take a Math Readiness Assessment to make sure they have the foundational knowledge needed to be successful at that math level.
Who has to take this Math Readiness Test?
All incoming CAMS students must take a Math Readiness Assessment.
If your student is currently at TCA in A or B track, they will take the assessment with their A/B teacher in class April 21 and 22. Please do NOT sign up for a time below.
For all other students, assessments will take place at the CAMS campus on select Fridays starting April 24 through May 15. Click here to see available dates and sign up.
About the Math Readiness Test
Your student must study the review packet before the test! The review packets are the same length and types of questions as the actual assessments.
Math 7, Math 8, and Sigma tests are completed on paper/pencil. Math I and Math II assessments are taken on the computer.
Math 7, Math 8, and Sigma students are required show their work on the test.
Students may not use a calculator for the assessment unless specifically allowed in their IEP or Section 504 plan. Please provide the proctor with this information prior to the test.
The tests are not timed, but it takes the average student about 30-45 minutes to complete the test. Tests should not take more than an hour to show readiness.
How do I know what level of assessment my student should take?
Typically, 7th graders should be going into Math 7, and 8th graders into Math 8. Unless your student is advanced, wants to accelerate, or if they are significantly behind.
Talk with your student's current teacher. They will be able to give you good insight if your student is on track, might need more support, or is ready to move on to the next grade level.
We highly recommend you review the review packets prior to taking the test. This should be an easy assessment. It is expected that students should know how to do all that is in the review packet for the math level they would like to take.
