Who Can Attend the Trip?

Students:  This trip is for 8th grade C-Track, Summit, and M-Track students from the Classical Academies:  Coastal, Vista, Escondido (Bear Valley and CAMS)

Adults:  YES! About a 1/3 of our participants are adults.  This has included moms, dads, active grandparents, aunts, uncles and adult siblings.  Adults are considered chaperone participants.

What is a Chaperone on This Trip?

A chaperone on this trip is a paid adult participant.  You are a participant, just like our students, however from time to time, will be put in charge of a group of students as you, your child, and your child's friends want to hang out together and explore a museum or site that we are visiting.  Adult chaperones pay at the "adult rate" and are expected to both enjoy the trip as a participant while always looking out for the general welfare of the group!

Oh No!  I'm Registering and it Says Waitlist?  What Do I Do?

Go ahead and register!  The waitlist occurs between 56 and 64 participants registered, but don't worry, we have ALWAYS been able to lift the waitlist and get you on the trip!  In addition, if for some reason we were not able to do that, you would get a FULL refund of your deposit.  By registering during the waitlist period, you are helping get us closer to lifting it, so please complete the process and stay tuned!

How Does the Hotel Rooming Work?

Participants are grouped into hotel rooms based on biological gender and room type: Quad, Triple, Double, and for adults wanting to room alone, Single.   All rooms have 2 Queen beds.

Can I Request a Roommate(s)?

YES!  Mr. Powell is in charge of the rooming and can usually group students and adults together that are registered in Quad rooms.  THIS IS NOT A GUARANTEE but I do my best!  Remember, you are in your hotel room for a very short amount of time.  We usually get to the hotel around 9:30pm and wake up at 6am!  It's really just a place to shower, sleep, get dressed for the day, eat and leave!

About 2 months prior to the trip, I send all participants a room request form.  Please look out for this and don't miss the deadline!

How Much Walking Will We Be Doing?

A LOT!!  Although it is spaced throughout the day, we will walk an average of 6-8 miles per day.  Most of the walking is at a moderate pace, but is consistent throughout the trip.  Please bring 2 pairs of COMFORTABLE WALKING SHOES!!

How Do I Eat on the Trip?

All meals are provided for you except for food at the airports.  We eat at a variety of locations including our hotels, airports, food courts, food trucks, and restaurants.  Here is the breakdown:

What Do I Wear?

We travel in beautiful November and the weather is generally mild to cold.  Temperatures can span from highs in the 60's to lows in the 30's.  Best advice, bring a REAL jacket and dress in layers!  Note:  A hooded sweatshirt is NOT a jacket!  Since we are able to safely leave our things in the buses while touring, jackets can be worn in the mornings, left on the bus for a noon tour, and then put back on for some nighttime memorials.  I always bring sunglasses along with a beanie and gloves just to be safe.

Fly Using Points?  Extend the Trip?

Yes!  This is called "land only" where you make your own arrival and departure arrangements.  We will know our flight information a few months out and many times travelers are able to schedule the same flights.  The main thing is that you are waiting for us at the east coast airport, so when we get there you can hop on the bus and begin the tour with the group!  If you want to explore this more, please email me!

The Broadway Show!!

This year's exciting Broadway show right in the heart of Times Square is going to be The Lion King!!!!
