Hello!!
Thank you for Guest Teaching for me today. I hope you enjoy your time at Wysong. My daily schedule is posted on the right. There are a few extra open periods with other duties that change daily. Those times are listed and explained in the plans below.
I will expand upon each time frame in the page below.
I will be including (embedding) videos of instruction for each grade level lesson. Feel free to show those videos to students if you wish -- or you may watch them during prep time to become acquainted with the lesson and then teach it yourself. Whatever is easiest and most comfortable to you.
Students will access the activities and sites in their usual ways. Here is a quick link to my CS Landing Page: WYSONG CS PAGE
I hope you have a great day at Wysong!
8:45 - 8:53 - 3rd Grade Arrival Duty
At 8:45, you will go to the 3rd grade pod and help supervise students during arrival. Leave the Computer Science room and go to the right. It's the first pod area down the hallway on your right. You will be working with Natalie Sharp (one of our SPED teachers). One of us holds open the door and allows students to enter the pod area -- after which they are expected to sit on the floor in their assigned areas and chat quietly in a level 2 or 3 voice. The other adult (who is not holding open the door) will monitor behavior and volume level in the main pod area. At 8:53 (when the bell rings), you are free to return to the Computer Science room to begin the day.
10 Minute Timer for Typing Club - Grades 3, 4, and 5
All Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 begin each lesson with 10 minutes of keyboarding practice using the TYPING CLUB program (found in the Student Portal). Students enter the class, sit down quietly, and then begin keyboarding. Remind them to use the keyboard covers (found on the tables). This is routine and they should do this without much intervention. You may use (and reuse) this timer for each grade if you like. Can't get the video above to play? Use this MyVRSpot Link: 10 Minute Timer
9:00 - 9:50 - 4th Grade
Mrs. Luedtke's Class will:
Start with 10 minutes of Keyboarding with Typing Club (Timer above)
Use Functions to complete tasks in Code.org - Lesson 10 - Functions with Minecraft (solution guide in Substitute Folder)
If complete (or if class deserves a small amount of free time), students may go to the Coding Fun page linked on the top of the 4th Grade site
9:55 - 10:45 - Open Time (Media)
During this extra plan time (Open Time), you will go to the Media and shelve books. Mrs. Shaddick asks that we wait about 10-15 minutes before coming in so students in Media have a chance to enter, check their books in, and get started on the lesson. At 10:10 (or so), go to the media and shelve a cart or two of books for about 20 minutes. At 10:30 (or so), return to the Computer Science room and continue prepping for the remainder of the day.
10:50 - 11:40 - 3rd Grade
Mr. Ketteler's Class will:
Start with 10 minutes of Keyboarding with Typing Club (Timer above)
Use Loops to solve problems in Code.org - Lesson 9 - Loops in Ice Age (solution guide in Substitute Folder)
If complete (or if class deserves a small amount of free time), students may go to the For Fun page linked on the top of the 3rd Grade Site
Solution guide is in Sub Binder on the desk

3:38 - 3:45 - Front Drive Sidewalk Duty
Grab the yellow vest (on the back of the teacher chair) in and walk down the hallway toward the 4th grade pod and exit the building and walk toward the north end (entrance) of the front drive. Monitor students as they walk to cars, or down the sidewalk towards home. Students should not be riding bikes or scooters on school grounds. They should enter cars on the sidewalk side. They should NOT cross in between cars (only cross at crosswalks).
