When I turned seventeen, the hardships and burdens of reality became a huge weight on my shoulders. My greatest anxiety and fear was that any minor downfall in highschool would bounce back on me in the future. In this case, the monarch butterflies symbolize growth. Although seventeen is still a young age, any mistake I made felt incredibly overwhelming, so that instead of learning to accept these mistakes, I chose to wallow in my distress and shield myself from growth.
