Steps:
1) clean battery terminals, 2 M5 or similar bolts, 2 small lock washers, 2 small washers, 2 lock nuts, and the ends of a COTS battery lead (unless you have to make your own, that is below) with Isopropyl alcoholÂ
2) Set up battery lead so it is faced the correct direction (no twisting ect.)
3) Slide on large insulation
4) Attach the battery lead in this order: bolt, lock washer, lead, terminal, washer, lock nut. Add a tiny drop of locktite on the very end of the bolt. Tighten them by hand normally then use an impact driver for the last second (litterally count a second) so it is fully tightened
5) slide large insulation piece (1" diameter, 2-3" long) over terminal and bolts, make sure it is flush with the battery
6) heat up heat gun (preferably smaller one), and heat gun the insulation (make sure to hold down insulation throughout otherwise there will be exposed areas!!!) (Keep the heat gun moving otherwise it will melt battery plastic!!!)
7) electrical tape any esposed areas
A COTS battery lead has the SB50 connector and battery lugs already attached. If you do not have these please watch the video. Just remember that once you have the battery lug on you should put heat shrink over the lug and bottom portion of insulation (not shown in video) as it gives the wire more support). For crimping our battery lugs we use the large Anderson (green) crimps (1-2 ft long). For the SB50 connector crimper we use the orange pair (not the ferrule crimper).
