Transferees

The curriculum of the Cebu Institute of Medicine is Problem-Based Learning. As such, the school seldom allows transferees to its higher years. Since the first-year curriculum is a Horizontally Integrated Basic Medical Science Course, transferees are only allowed into the Year level 2. This will also allow the student to have at least 60% of the learning experience with our institution.

Only those who are exceptional and have a very valid reason for transfer is given the opportunity and the privilege to transfer. We also do not accept transferees who failed from another school. If you want to transfer, the process will be as follows:

1. Write a complete formal letter to the Admissions Committee Chair Dr. Corazon Meneses, the circumstances and reasons why you are transferring.

2.  If the committee decides to allow your application to progress to phase 1, you will be notified and asked to fill up an application form and pay the processing fee.

3.  Submit your last NMAT and your grades in your last school year of the medical school you came from together with your application form and processing fee.

4. Upon evaluation the committee will decide whether or not you will be allowed to progress with your application to phase 2. Additional documents may be needed from you if warranted.

5. For phase 2, A preliminary interview will be made after your documents are received.

6.  You will be asked to undergo a diagnostic exam. This will consist of four-day testing dates, which will diagnose you on your knowledge and skills of subjects taken in the first year. This includes Histology and neuroanatomy, Gross anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology.

7. Depending upon the results of the diagnostic exam, you may or may not be called for phase 3, which is a panel interview.

8. Your application will be deliberated and you will be informed of the results via email and phone.
