It’s a classic story: Astronomy Professor John Putnam leaves the big city for small-town living in Sand Rock, Arizona, where the vast night sky and the apple of his eye, Ellen Fields, occupy his field of view.
Sand Rock is a peaceful place, all sand and sun, and its occupants are friendly folks, but, despite the charms of a humble town newspaper, newly installed power lines, and home-made peanut brittle exchanges, John struggles to acclimate to life among the cacti out in the remote desert.
But, when a meteor streaks across the sky and crashes near the old mine, John leads an expedition into the resulting crater and opens the eyes of the locals to the possibility of alien life.
Of course, John’s just imaginative, right? It’s impossible that aliens have crash-landed, and even more impossible for them to be wandering among the townsfolk undetected…
Will nosy neighbors, persistent press people, and a surly sheriff uncover John’s secret past, foil his romantic pursuits, and gum up his astronomical studies?
It Came From Outer Space is a story about the friction between what we want to believe and what we actually practice, about “insiders” and “outsiders,” and about how having big ideas is not the same as having an open mind. Come and enjoy the musical stylings of this year’s NTA Theatre pit band, the song, dance, and antics of the NTA Theatre Ensemble, and our final send-off to this year’s seniors.
Come and enjoy the chaotic and comical stories that unfold in Sand Rock, NOW IN 4-D!
