The 2021 Spring Play: She Kills Monsters took us to new worlds, addressed some serious topics such as bullying, push the our production teams abilities on the technical aspects of theatre and redefined the type and quality of story we could tell on our stage.
Production Highlights:
First performance on stage with a live audience post COVID
Student Band who preformed our first original piece of music
First use of theatrical fog, moving lights & pyrotechnical effects
First production with large choreographed stage fighting scenes.
First use of student created puppets
Our production includes the contributions of over 30 students who are brand-new to the NTA stage this year. Luckily, She Kills Monsters provides a myriad of opportunities for them to explore all sides of a production, and this group has solidified as a true ensemble, sharing in every aspect of storytelling. It has been heartwarming and fulfilling to coach and encourage this group of young people as they worked through dramaturgy, music, design, wardrobe, set dressing, puppetry, technical execution, direction, and house management. They have each had a hand in nearly every aspect of our production, and have grown their skillsets exponentially.
