What is 'Wellbeing'?
‘Well-being’ is generally defined as the experience of health, happiness and prosperity. It includes having good mental health, a feeling of belonging/social inclusion, a sense of meaning or purpose and an ability to manage anxiety. More generally, well-being can also more simply be described as ‘feeling well’.
At Churston Ferrers Grammar School we would like you all to know that we understand mental health and well-being is not just the absence of mental health problems, it is also about you and every young person being able to:
feel confident in themselves,
express a range of emotions appropriately
have positive relationships with other people
cope with the stresses of everyday life
manage times of stress
deal with changes that life brings us
So, we want to give support to everyone and to those of you who may have particular mental health needs.
Some challenges you may be facing right now that could affect your 'wellbeing'
Feeling lonely and isolated
Boredom- we are back in school but there is still a 'Lockdown'
No one to talk to
Bad home situation
No motivation
Worried about health and family
Don't know where to get help or support
School work is hard!
Stress with regard to assessments coming up
No independence
Uncertainty about the future
If you don't know where to start, the 'Top Tips' page maybe a good place. Otherwise, just begin to explore the resources and even if you don't particularly need the help now, you will know where to find it in the future.

In recognition of Stress Awareness Week 2021 (1st-5th of November), 'INVESTIN' ( an organisation the school works with, that offers students opportunities to participate in a variety of experiences to support their career pathways) ran a photography competition entitled ‘My Peaceful Place’.
The competition attracted 3,500 entries from across the UK
We are therefore delighted to announce that Ben Goldsmith in Year 10 was the runner-up in the competition with his entry ‘Fields of yellow - where Rosie the dog loves to spend her days prancing around’. (See image above!)
investIN’s comments: What a great action shot! We couldn’t help but smile when we saw this entry; Rosie’s expression and the bright yellow of the flowers made for such an uplifting image. Bravo Ben - pure joy.
