Director's Message

PGS was created from a simple conviction: students preparing for the world of tomorrow should have the opportunity to understand it from different perspectives and experience education in more than one academic environment.

Our 2+2 structure lies at the heart of this philosophy. Students spend their first two years at Chulalongkorn University, building a strong foundation in political science, public policy, global affairs, and society, before spending their final two years at one of our partner universities abroad. International education is therefore not an addition to PGS; it is an integral part of the program.

Yet becoming internationally educated is not the same as becoming a global citizen. Global citizenship requires more than studying abroad or speaking different languages. It requires openness to different perspectives, respect for human dignity, awareness of challenges beyond one’s immediate surroundings, and a sense of responsibility toward others.

This is central to what we want PGS to represent. We want our students to think critically, ask difficult questions, listen to different perspectives, and understand political and social problems in their wider contexts. But intellectual ability alone is not enough. We also want them to develop a genuine commitment to public service and an understanding that education carries responsibilities toward society.

The four years ahead will bring both challenges and opportunities. Students will be asked to work hard, think differently, adapt to unfamiliar environments, and reconsider what they previously believed. These experiences are an important part of becoming independent thinkers and responsible global citizens.

My colleagues and I at PGS are committed to supporting our students throughout this journey. We hope they will graduate not only with a degree and an international educational experience, but also with intellectual curiosity, integrity, compassion, a commitment to public service, and the courage to contribute to something larger than themselves.

To all our students, welcome to PGS. Your first two years begin at Chulalongkorn University, but your education should ultimately prepare you to serve society and engage responsibly with the world.
