The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Public Policy, Global Affairs, and Society, or PGS) is an international dual-degree undergraduate program offered by the Faculty of Political Science at Chulalongkorn University in collaboration with leading universities around the world. Designed for an increasingly complex and interconnected world, PGS equips students with the intellectual depth, ethical foundation, and global perspective to understand pressing challenges and make a meaningful impact as informed leaders and changemakers.
Established in 2020, PGS was created in response to growing demand in Thailand and around the world for internationally oriented political science education. Since its founding, the Program has continued to evolve, expanding its academic pathways and international partnerships to meet the changing needs of students and the global higher education landscape.
At the heart of PGS is its dual-degree structure, combining two years of study at Chulalongkorn University with two years at an overseas partner university. Students graduate with two bachelor’s degrees—one from Chulalongkorn University and one from their partner university. Studying across two academic environments gives students the opportunity to experience different intellectual traditions and cultures while developing cross-cultural competence, adaptability, and a truly global perspective.
PGS offers a growing range of international pathways through its partner universities. Depending on the selected track and partner university, students can pursue areas such as development studies, environmental policy, international relations, and other interdisciplinary fields. Track availability and requirements may vary by partner university.
PGS provides a rigorous and multidisciplinary education that connects political science with global studies and related fields, including international relations, sociology, public policy, public management, anthropology, philosophy, economics, sustainability, and research methodologies. This broad academic foundation enables students to critically examine political, social, and governance challenges at both the global and local levels while developing the analytical, research, and professional skills needed to thrive across a wide range of careers and sectors.
More than a degree, PGS is a global academic journey. Through its dual-degree structure, international study opportunities, and multidisciplinary curriculum, the Program prepares students to think critically, engage across cultures, and contribute meaningfully to an ever-changing world.
