Your Careers Education, Information and Guidance Programme

Our Future Self programme allows you to develop essential skills such as teamwork, communication, public speaking, digital literacy and emotional intelligence.

Regardless of year group, you will have access to a wide range of resources with detailed information, advice and guidance about future careers. You will also receive specific support when making key decisions about GCSE options, A Levels, Higher Education and job opportunities.

Gap Year

Your Future Self Timeline at CHS

During your time at Cheadle Hulme School we want to support you to:

Find out about employability skills, different careers and the world of work
Develop your skills so that you can manage your career development and become an employable member of society

Year 7

In Waconian Programme lessons you will gain an understanding of employability skills.
In lessons across the curriculum you will be provided with information about careers relating to, or leading from, that subject.

Year 8

In Waconian Programme lessons you will gain a better understanding of personal finance and also the skills that are required in enterprises/ to be an entrepreneur.
In lessons across the curriculum you will be provided with information about careers relating to, or leading from, that subject.

Year 9

Within Form time you will:

Start a personal review and a planning process, identifying your strengths, interests, qualities and ambitions. You will make links between these and employability.
Investigate the nature of careers and develop your aspirations for future career choice.
Explore the range of post 16 options in order to inform your KS4 choices.
In lessons across the curriculum you will be provided with information about careers relating to, or leading from, that subject.
You will be provided with access to the Unifrog platform to help you explore possible career pathways.

Year 10

During Activities Week you will undertake a week of Future Self activities that will include completing the Morrisby test and taking part in workshops that simulate assessment centre activities.
In lessons across the curriculum you will be provided with information about careers relating to, or leading from, that subject.
You will be provided with access to the Unifrog platform to help you explore possible career pathways.
You will be provided with access to the Morrisby Organisation’s Career Guidance tool.

Year 11

You will have an interview with a member of the Future Self team. The purpose of the interview is for you to gain advice about how A ‘Levels’ fit together, other institutions and also any future plans that you may have.
In addition, you are offered the opportunity to speak to an Independent Careers Advisor.
In lessons across the curriculum you will be provided with information about careers relating to, or leading from, that subject.
You will be provided with access to the Unifrog platform to help you explore possible career pathways.
You will be provided with access to the Morrisby Organisation’s Career Guidance tool.

Year 12

You will have an interview with a member of the Future Self team. Through this interview you will receive advice about courses, Gap Year information and Apprenticeships and be encouraged to go to Open Days.
You will complete a work experience week in the final week of the year.
In lessons across the curriculum you will be provided with information about careers relating to, or leading from, that subject.
You will be provided with access to the Unifrog platform to help you explore possible career pathways.
You will be provided with access to the Morrisby Organisation’s Career Guidance tool.

Year 13

During your final year you can return to your Future Self advisor, but it is your Form Tutors and subject specialists that take on the role of ensuring that your applications are completed fully.
In lessons across the curriculum you will be provided with information about careers relating to, or leading from, that subject.
You will be invited to join the online CHS Community of Old Waconians, staff, and parents to develop your professional network.
You will be provided with access to the Unifrog platform to help you explore possible career pathways.
You will be provided with access to the Morrisby Organisation’s Career Guidance tool.
