Your Students' Union x
Your Student Union is dedicated to supporting ESC UC students in various ways, ensuring needs and voices are heard and addressed. Here’s an overview of the support provided:
We offer financial assistance and advice:
Hardship Funds/Bursaries and Grants: The union provides information on and can assist in completing forms for bursaries, grants and hardship funds.
Discounts: Access to discounted services, such as food, textbooks, and travel.
Financial Guidance: Workshops on budgeting, managing loans, and maximizing available resources are offered across the year to ensure students are financially informed.
Reimbursements: We can contribute towards the costs of exhibitions, trips and travel.
A core function of the Student Union is ensuring that student voices are not only heard but actively shape university policies and services:
Student Representation: Elected student officers represent the student body in university committees and decision-making processes, advocating for issues that matter to students.
Open Feedback Channels: The union continually seeks student input through surveys, suggestion boxes, and forums, ensuring that students have a platform to voice concerns and ideas.
Campaigns Led by Students: Students' voices are central to the campaigns the union runs, whether focused on mental health, sustainability, or equality. We actively listen and then advocate for the changes students want to see.
Individual Support and Advocacy: The union provides confidential advice and advocacy for students facing academic or personal challenges, ensuring their rights are upheld and their concerns are addressed.
The union organizes a range of events and opportunities to foster a sense of community and enhance the student experience:
Freshers' Week/Welcome Events: A series of events designed to help new students settle in, meet new people, and explore opportunities at the university.
Social and Cultural Events: From end of year celebrations to dog therapy days, we ensure that there is something for everyone!
Workshops and Development Programs: We offer workshops to develop students’ professional and personal skills, including sign language classes and graphic design workshops.
Clubs and Societies: The union are eager to support a range of clubs and societies, please let us know if you have any ideas.
In all of these areas, listening to students is at the heart of everything we do. We actively seek feedback and work closely with the student body to ensure that the support and services provided truly reflect students needs and aspirations.
