Studying a Higher Education qualification is a big investment, so it's important to find out as much as you can about what's included in your fees and support that is available to you.
Higher Education Bursary - Deadline 21 November 2025
Applications for the 2025-2026 Higher Education bursary are now open.
You may be eligible to apply for a bursary if you are studying a Higher Education course. You can read more about the bursary provision in our Access and Participation plans, which you can read here Fee Structure | East Sussex College (escg.ac.uk)
You may be eligible for a bursary if you are an East Sussex College Group student if you first enrolled on your current Higher Education course Sept 2020-2025, and fall into one of the categories below:
· Your household income is below £28,000 per annum (£34,000 for counselling students)
· You are from a minority ethnicity, Roma, Gypsy or Irish Traveller
· Your permanent home address is in an under-represented area in Higher education (POLAR 4 Quintile 1 or 2 area) www.officeforstudents.org.uk/data-and-analysis/young-participation-by-area/search-by-postcode/
· You are in receipt of Disabled Students Allowance or applying for the DSA
· You are a carer for an adult & in receipt of a carers allowance
· You were in receipt of free meals at school
· You are a care leaver/estranged student
If you are from a minority ethnicity and/or if you live in and under-represented postcode, we will be able to assess this using the information you provide in your application.
Students can receive £200 for each category they fall into up to a maximum of £500 in each year of study (pro-rata for part-time students). Usually paid in 2 instalments in December and March subject to attendance. Students will need to reapply in each year of study.

Newhaven Travel Bursary 2025/6
Newhaven students - if you are one of the students attending our new Newhaven campus, please find attached the bursary application for to apply for the funding we agreed to for travel. This will pay you the difference between what it would have cost to get to Lewes, and the new cost of getting to Newhaven. Costs will be paid termly subject to minimum 85% attendance.
