Ji Zha, PhD

Research Associate II, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

Ji Zha is a senior research associate at department of oncology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Ji’s role is to assist the faculty in conduct of research, manage the research team and assist in developing grant application for funding. Ji is also a part-time adjunct faculty in Jefferson (Philadelphia University) to teach course in biology. Ji earned her Ph.D degree in neuroscience in University of Miami School of Medicine. Afterwards she completed two postdoctoral training in Drexel University and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is currently enjoying leading the research team to make an impact on the development of therapeutic strategies to treat rare disease patients. She likes the creative process and intellectual satisfaction when writing grant application or manuscripts. Training next generation of scientists is also very rewarding.

  • Cheerleader: This type of mentor cheers on mentees and notices their progress. If a mentee makes a mistake, the cheerleader focuses on how the mistake will help the mentee grow.

  • Ideator: The ideator is a mentor that helps mentees brainstorm and think big. This mentoring style focuses on thinking, planning, and dreaming.

About Me

I had a child during the postdoc training. It is very challenging time for a new mom. If there is mom/new mom postdoc is struggling balancing the work/life, I am happy to connect and give some suggestions.
